STUDY HALL’S TRIBUTE TO NIRBHAY
She went to a mall to see a film like you and me.
On her way back home in a private bus,
Six ruffians defiled her, betraying her trust.
One by one, they molested and beat her.
Each one of them was worse than a cur.
There was no option but to bear the atrocity.
Her friend fought for her in the infamous city.
But the criminals were without scruples, remorseless.
They kicked her, injured her badly and tore her dress.
They threw them out of the bus, onto the pavement.
They lay there hurt and bruised, twisted and bent.
Help! Help!! They cried, almost yelped.
Folks passed by, scared, didn’t render help.
They remained there, half-dead in a state of undress
A pair of naked bodies, they looked such a mess!
A kind soul appeared out of the blue.
Said to himself,” Something I must do”.
Got a sheet and gave them dignity and their due.
From their sad state, he took a cue.
He took them to a nearby hospital.
The girl is critical, the doctors announced.
The boy recovered but she, back to life, couldn’t bounce.
She struggled for weeks; the will to live was strong.
The hospital stay was very painful and long.
She turned serious and was taken to Singapore.
She had now become like India’s folklore.
There, she unfortunately breathed her last.
In India flags were at half mast.
Called Nirbhay, she was hailed as a brave-heart.
Valiantly and beautifully, she had played her part.
In her death, we have found a cause to fight for.
No girl will ever face rape, blood or gore.
A young life snuffed out in the prime of her life.
Fight back, we will, never mind the pain and strife.
In her death, we have found a cause to fight for.
No girl will ever face rape, blood or gore.
A young life snuffed out in the prime of her life.
Fight back, we will, never mind the pain and strife.
So sad, So Beautiful
these cases will go on and on i will tell you the tips to stop this first goverment should strict there rules against victims they should be torchered and it is all about curosity in the people
Not only will the government’s strict laws help in eradicating rape, molestation and harrassment of girls…. the need of an hour is to change our mindset, boys especially, so that they learn to respect a woman and not consider them as things to be used and thrown
It is truly shame for a largest democracy. We respect the fighting spirits of Nirbhaya.
It has taken so many ‘Nirbhayas’ to get the country’s consciousness finally arise!
‘Fight back’ indeed!
Poor nirbhaya…….. we all should must do something for this poor 23 year old………..who thought this would happen????? and this is not only a single case many cases are hidden nd nothing has been done to those cases!!!! people think that if girls were shorts and a backless top they are attracting people but this happens coz there are some mad people who dnt wanna change their way of looking they dnt respect girls they also have their mothers and sisters if this happened with them???? and if in this case a ministers son was involved they would not have got punished maybe they would but they will not be hung to death!!!!!!
Who are we? Even the most merciless of predators do not make their female counterparts subject to such
atrocities. This incident has exposed the cannibalistic side of men.
Well said Yash! Influence as many friends as you can by forming groups who talk how this problem can be tackled. Thanks for the very sensitive response.
What is the country that i live in?
With no equality
And the What is this country that I live in?
quality of life
Differs from husband to wife
Boy to girl, brother to sister
Hey Mister, are you the same?
Contributing to the national shame
Replacing your mothers
With the bent ideology of another’s
perception that women have a particular role in society
Fills my heart with anxiety
Where is all of this going?
What will emerge from these seeds that we’re sowing?
It makes my head spin
But I’m not giving in
Will keep asking the question
What is this country that I live in?
Wonderful Abhisheik. Good poem, makes people think and ponder over the future of our country .and date to adk uncomfortable questions. Why are we the way we are? Why is the moral fibre of our country getting weaker by the day?
sorry..some typing errors..i meant dare to ask
I am so glad that so many of our students are engaging in this convesation! Let’s see you bring more and more young people to become part of this campaign. Change as many mindsets as you can and the world will be a different one for your children!
Blessings
Urvashi Aunty
poor…….Nirbhaya 🙁
Lori, poor Nirbhay or one brave one who gave it back as much as she could even in that vulnerable state? Let us salute her and make her death not go in vain. Let us fight this menace tooth and nail. Drawing room talk wont do any more.Time to walk the talk.
This girl’s story has been the point of discussion for the last few weeks and so many more cases of heinous crimes have been brought to light. I read yesterday that in Rajasthan a father bites off baby girl’s nose, lips and cheeks in a fit of rage. What kind of society are we living in? We’re worse than animals… this kind of savage behavior is putting entire humanity to shame. And I am deeply upset by the Justice Verma committee’s amendments to Rape Laws!
Yes.. it is animcomplete job and hastily put together for placatory purposes. Why don’t you write the reasons for your upset and let us all petition for a better more comprehensive fairer law.
