Ans1. No. Retardation cannot be cured through medication because it is not an illness. It is a mental state, where brain cells have been damaged due to some trauma or reason.There has as yet been no breakthrough in science to reverse this state, however early and timely intervention is the answer.


Ans2. There is no hard and fast rule that the second child would also be born with retardation. However, in some cases, it is necessary to undergo a genetic test before planning the second issue.


Ans3. Yes. At Study Hall, we aim at true special education integration. So, your child will be in the mainstream for social interaction, but not for academics, since academic programs are developed and imparted to children with special needs at their individual level of ability.


Ans4. Yes. Children taken admitted to Dosti are given understood as having weak cognitive skills and thus, every attempt is made to treat this issue so Dosti students enjoy improved social development and academic outcomes.

Academic, pre-vocational and vocational training programs imparted at Dosti are designed to strengthen the areas of cognitive dysfunction affecting so many students in regular as well as special schools – areas that may have gone undiagnosed so far, but which your child can benefit from when correctly assessed and placed in an effective, one-on-one educational program to enable long-term learning success.

However, it is important to understand that though special education inclusion has provided wonderful opportunities to many children, even our best result-oriented educational and vocational training programs are most effective for students with less severe learning disabilities.

Additionally, since children with special needs have certain behavioural issues and physical limitations, parents and caregivers need to accept them as a whole – so, no comparisons, please!


Ans5. Parents can create a parents association in which parents with special children come together to work as volunteers and their siblings can also share the responsibilities of caring for a child with special needs.


Ans6. Children with special needs can follow vocations according to their abilities and functional levels only in sheltered environments.


Ans7. Yes, Dosti classroom programs are similar to the MS classes, except the number of students in the group are restricted to 10 and Dosti children are taught through special methods following an Individualised Educational Program (IEP), according to their abilities and level of functioning.
