Annual concert held at Prerna school

Study Hall Educational Foundation’s Prerna School held its Annual Concert on 18th and 19th, December 2018, at the Study Hall school in Gomti Nagar.  ‘Sanjha Sansar’ was the theme of the program. Mrs. Sanyukta Bhatia, Mayor of Lucknow graced the occasion as the chief guest. The students presented delightful performances, which truly enthralled the audience. The programme started with a welcoming speech by the principal Rakhi Panjwani and followed by the song by the pre-primary students.  The students of pre-nursery performed a delightful dance on ‘Kaun hu main.’ The students of Prerna boys sang a beautiful song spreading the message of equality. The students of bridge course displayed their dramatic skills in the play, ‘Ladki haath se nikal gaye’.  The students of class nursery presented a puppet dance, which was highly appreciated. Kathak by class 1 students stole the hearts of the audience. The Prerna boys delighted the audience with the comic play ‘Jigyasa’.  The young ones of class 2 were part of a dance ‘Rang lo’ which was greatly enjoyed by the audience.

Addressing the audience chief guest, Sanyukta Bhatia said, “Girls are equal to boys and can do all the things a boy can do.”  She added, “we live in a society, where gender inequality is a major issue and to become a better society we need to make individuals efforts to deal with this issue.”

The program was followed by Nritya Natika, ‘Nikal tu khud ki Khoj me’.  The various dance performances like the inaugural dance, fusion dance, presentations by 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th, the students of 5th standard performed self-defense techniques to show people how can girls to defend themselves, a skit by performed by Prerna Boys, ‘Parivartan’  was highly loved and appreciated by the parents.

On this occasion, Dr. Urvashi Sahni Director and CEO, Study Hall Educational Foundation, congratulated students and appreciated the efforts and hard work of teachers and students.

The program was concluded with a delightful dance performance and vote of thanks.


Prerna girls invited to speak at Chicago summit

Obama Foundation and the Global Girls Alliance joined hands with the Study Hall Educational Foundation Educational Foundation to make a short film on Laxmi Nishad who is an alumna of the Prerna Gilrs School. Kiran Sahu who is currently a student of the Prerna Girls School has played the role of Laxmi in the film shared earlier. Laxmi, Kiran, and Dr. Urvashi Sahni were invited to Chicago to speak at the Obama Foundation Summit. Here is a glimpse of them on stage.

Annual concert held at Study Hall Junior School

Study Hall Junior School held its annual concert on the 3rd and 4th of November, 2018 at the Sant Gadge auditorium, Gomti Nagar. ‘Come see the world through the eyes of a child’ was the theme of the program which took us back to our childhood and the stories with which we grew up. The students of 1st to 5th standard presented a delightful melange of stories and fairy tales which truly enthralled the audience. The little ones of 1st standard replayed ‘The Enchanted Wheelbarrow’ with great finesse. The students of 2nd standard displayed their dramatic skills in the play, ‘Godmother’s Assistants’. The students of 4th standard staged a play, ‘Annie’ in which the acting skills of the students were highly appreciated. The story of ‘Time Travelers’ enacted by the students of 5th standard stole the hearts of the audience. The children of DOSTI delighted the audience with two of their beautiful songs. The students of the 4th and 5th standard were part of the School Orchestra and they presented a medley of old songs which was greatly enjoyed by everyone.

On this occasion, Shalini Sinha, principal Study Hall, said, “I have seen many great actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi performing on this stage and now I see these tiny kids performing here. I just feel so proud and happy to see them her

Addressing the audience, Bani Malhotra, headmistress Study Hall junior school, said, “The children have the ability to live in the present and to enjoy the life to the fullest. Today on the stage students are expressing themselves and their teamwork inspires all of us and encourages the friendship”. The time and energy invested by the teachers were clearly visible in the delightful presentations by the children and the enthusiastic response of the audience.

The program concluded with grand finale dance and vote of thanks.

Convocation held at Center For Learning

Study Hall Educational Foundation had organized its Convocation for their Center for Learning (CFL) unit on Thursday, November 1, 2018, to felicitate the students who have successfully cleared their 10th and 12th NIOS examination. Mrs. Lalita Pradeep, Additional Director, Basic Education, Uttar Pradesh government graced the occasion as chief guest. Center for Learning was founded on 1st July 2013 which aim to help children cope with academic pressures of the centralized board, CFL paces the curriculum for its students with the help of open school program.

The Ceremony started with an Academic procession and welcome speech by the principal Dr. Pratima Srivastava. “Center for Learning bridges the gap between students learning needs and our education system with the help of NIOS. We aim to create a collaborative learning environment in our classrooms to enable children to develop freely at their own pace”, said, Principal, Study Hall Center for Learning.

The ceremony continued with Hindi song and instrumental performance by students. Students were felicitated and were congratulated on this occasion.

Addressing the convocation, Chief Guest Pratima Pradeep, congratulated the students for their accomplishment and wished them luck for the new inning of their life. She added Study Hall defines the real meaning of education. Along with education it expands the personalities and nurtures the soul.

On this Occasion, Dr. Urvashi Sahni blessed the students and appreciated them for their hard work and congratulated them for their success. She shared her journey. She also said Study hall has created a happy culture here, we believed dancing, singing, drama, painting everything is part of learning. Study Hall has just expand the definition of academics. At last, she said “Every Student is a champion”

The students shared their stories. Sakshi Rastogi, school topper who is pursuing BJMC from Bennett University, Noida shared about her experience in school and said “Center for Learning gave me all the support and care that I needed. It built confidence in me. I want to give the credit to the Center for Learning.” Also, Amisha Jain, pursuing a professional course in choreography from Devi Dance Academy said, “Being a member of Center for Learning, I experienced a whole world full of life, activities, and knowledge, which helped me in exploring my capabilities and shaping my career”.

The program concluded with the delightful dance performance and Nation Anthem. The overall environment was full of joy, rejoice and celebrations. Students dressed in traditional regalia were visibly excited on the occasion and displayed a sense of pride and achievement.

Study Hall DOSTI (Development of Self through Interaction) Annual Concert.

Study Hall School hosted an annual concert for the DOSTI (Development of Self through Interaction) unit on November 2, 2018, at Sant Gadge Auditorium in Gomtinagar.  The theme of the concert was “Come to see the world through the eyes of a child” which took everyone back to their childhood.  Mr. S.K Srivastava, commissioner disabilities, the government of Uttar Pradesh, graced the occasion as chief guest.

Dr. Urvashi Sahni, CEO, and founder Study Hall Educational Foundation shared how she started the Journey of DOSTI with 10 students and today, over one hundred children, are taken care of in its Early Intervention, Home-based programs, and regular school programs.  She added, “I feel so happy to see all these parents here supporting their kids and I appreciate every single effort that every teacher make here.”

The concert started with welcoming the guest and speech by Shalini Sinha, principal Study Hall School The first performance was a soul-stirring song “Let the children have a world”, in which kids shared their dreams and beliefs.  It continued with a dance performance on “Ek Zindagi Meri SauKhwaishe.”  Children of class 3 eloquently and effectively speak out their minds about what freedom means to them in form of a poem.  Students act on the short English play “The keys to heaven” which was about how we get caught up following the herd, Instead of looking at what’s real.  Two students from DOSTI Vaibhav Yadav and Stavya Mishra showcased their talent on synthesizer and bongo.  This took concert on another peak.  

On this occasion, chief guest, Mr. S.K Srivastava congratulated the teacher and appreciated them for the work they do.  He said, “it takes immense patience to deal with kids with special abilities and I see the teachers and special trainers do their work so lovingly.”

The program continued with a song performance “Hume Haq Hai Barabari Ka” and song performance by students of Center for Learning “Koshish karne walon ki haar nahi hoti.”  The next performance was a short humorous play in Hindi “Chintiprem” which left the audience laughing.  The program concluded with the delightful dance performance by students.

Study Hall College launched in a gala event

The Study Hall Educational Foundation formally launched the Study Hall College which is affiliated to the Lucknow University and currently has bachelors courses running in business administration, commerce, journalism and mass communication and computer application.

Minister of Excise and Prohibition Shri Jai Pratap Singh and former Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University Shri GB Pattanaik graced the occasion with their presence. Powerful personal stories of change narrated by college students and exemplary dance and drama performances were the highlights of the gala event.

Chief guest Shri GB Pattanaik said that experience sharing by the students of the college was the most moving part of the event. He added that colleges are not just places that give out degrees but institutions that shape individuals to change the society. He candidly mentioned that the Study Hall College is 35 km from the center of Lucknow and said that it could be 100 km away as it is the far-flung like Pipersand that need quality higher education institutions like the Study Hall College.

The founder and CEO of the Study Hall Educational Foundation Dr Urvashi Sahni shared the journey of the college and how she envisions it becoming a beacon of quality education.

On this occasion, Principle of the college Dr. Sudhish Chandra said, “Education is a basic necessity after food shelter and clothing. In fact, education is to be regarded as an investment of the highest order which in time to come become an asset.”
Adding to his point, the director of the college said education is not just about the degree, its not just a tool for the change, its a change itself which establishes the social dynamics of the human race.
The programme concluded with the speech of the chief guest and national anthem.
on this occasion the Guest of Honour, Shri Jai Pratap Singh said, “I loved the performances today, I am glad Study Hall Educational Foundation is still following the culture in this modernization. Study Hall has brought a revolution in education”,

The programme started with Invocation dance, Performed by The Study hall College Girls : Muskaan Mishra (BJMC 3rd semester), Akanksha Kushwaha (B. Com 3rd year), Laxmi (BJMC 1st Semester), Surbhi (BJMC 1st Semester), Sushma (B.Com 2nd year). Ceremony continued  with a short play named The New Car  performed by Sneha Reji -(BBA 1st semester) Adamya -( BBA 1st semester) Ashu Yadav (BJMC 1st semester), Anjali (BJMC 3rd semester), Anurag ( BJMC 1st semester), Pradeep (BJMC 3rd semester), Sahitya (BJMC 1st semester), Simran (BBA 1st semester). Later, Students from Vidyasthali performed a theme dance. The last performance was a song by Prerna girls and college girls.

8th convocation for Prerna Girls School

It a moment of pride for Study Hall Educational Foundation to organize the 8th convocation for Prerna Girls School (school to educate underprivileged girls). the convocation was held on October 22 at Study Hall school to felicitate the students to who have successfully cleared their class 10th and 12th examination. Also, the Prerna Alumni who have gone to complete their graduation and Post graduation was awarded the scholarship. The students who are pursuing their undergraduate are awarded Late Sundari Devi Kapoor Memorial  Scholarship of Rs.5000  each and Prerna alumni who are pursuing their post-graduation are awarded Late Rajendra Mohini  Satyapal Malhotra Memorial scholarship of Rs. 20,000 each.
The ceremony started by welcoming the guest and followed by the student’s and Principal’s speech. Students sang the song and continued the ceremony by felicitating class 9th and 11th meritorious students. The felicitation continued by felicitating the meritorious of class 12th, 10th and rest of passed out students of 10th and 12th.
Student Pooja Sen shared, how she has seen herself growing, developing and empowering. Later the Alumni who are graduated and post graduated were felicitated. Laxmi Nishad, Prerna Alum, currently working as Sales Head at Shiva Enterprise also shared her experience. She thanked  Dr. Urvashi Sahni and other teachers for the support she has received.
On this Occasion, Dr. Urvashi Sahni, CEO of the Study Hall Educational Foundation, addressed the students and said, education has helped alumnae to create their goals, and the willingness of studying helped them to reach their goals. she added, the story of girls is inspiring and every girl is special in her own way.
Adding to Dr. Sahni’s point the chief guest said, Education is for everyone, it is the weapon that helps to fight issues like child marriage, dowry and many other issues.
 The ceremony continued with a delightful dance performance. The ceremony finished up with a vote of thanks and National Anthem.

Dr. Urvashi Sahni felicitated by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship

Twelve social entrepreneurs at the helm of 11 organizations from around the world have been recognized by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship as the 2018 Social Entrepreneurs of the Year in New York. The Schwab Foundation recognizes 12 individuals from 11 organizations for their innovative approaches and potential for global impact

Girls’ education, sexual violence, prison reform, financial inclusion, and disaster relief are issues where the 2018 awardees have developed cost-effective, scalable services.

Dr. Urvashi Sahni, Study Hall Educational Foundation (SHEF), India is one of the winners of the 2018 Social Entrepreneurs of the Year Award.  She runs the Study Hall Educational Foundation where organization runs a network of nine types of schools and programmes, catering to girls, disabled children, rural youth and children outside the formal school system. To date, the foundation has worked with more than 900 government schools and trained 5,000 government teachers, reaching an estimated 500,000 children.

Talking about the award Dr. Sahni said, “I am very grateful to the Schwab Foundation for the recognition.” 

“Social Entrepreneurs leverage the power of market forces and business principles to solve social problems in ways that benefit the marginalized and the poor,” said Hilde Schwab, Chairperson, and Co-Founder, Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.  Adding to the point Schwab said, “Their work is often carried out in areas where government and the private sector are unable to achieve meaningful outcomes and involves considerable creativity coupled with pragmatism.”

The 11 organizations and 12 individuals honored in 2018 become part of the broader Schwab Foundation community of 350 outstanding social entrepreneurs from around the world. The work of the Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneurs is integrated into the World Economic Forum’s events and initiatives aimed at scaling-up market-based solutions for global challenges.

Along with Dr. Urvashi Sahni, 11 other Social entrepreneurs from around the world has been recognized and facilitated. Stagecraft, an inter school drama competition 2018

Stagecraft, an inter-school drama competition held by Study Hall Educational Foundation (SHEF) once in every two years is an excellent platform for schools all over Lucknow to show their exceptional drama skills. This year, in the third edition of Stage Craft, The Millennium School, Lucknow Public School, and Shri Ram Swaroop Memorial College participated along with Study Hall’s own budding actors.
The show started with a speech delivered by the head boy, Shreyas Thakur.
The teams had to vase their plays on issues which hinder our society today. TMS, LPC, and SRM performed plays called ‘Earth in 2069’, ‘CopyLeft’ and ‘Devi’ respectively. These plays targeted the issues of increase in the use of plastic, distractions caused by social media, the increase in poverty and the sorry state of women in today’s society.
Study Hall presented the play ‘Parched’ or ‘Pyasa’ by Anushree Roy. It is set in Kolkata in present-day India. It presents us with a brief glimpse into the home of Mr. Bikash, a bhodralok brahmin and in the life of Meera, his maidservant. It is a slice of reality that is often hidden behind a veil of glitz and glamour of Metropolitan cities.

The teams were judged not only on their performance but also on their costumes and their stage set up. While the awards for best play and best stage set up were bagged by Study Hall whereas the award for best costume was bagged by The Millennium School. Arundhati Singh, head girl of Study Hall school won the overall best actor award along with the award for best actor in ‘Parched’. To make the show even more memorable, Prerna concluded it with a beautiful self-composed skit.

CBSE class 10th results brings joy for Study Hall School

The Central Board of Secondary Education Has Declared The result of class 10th this afternoon. Study Hall school located in Vipul Khand 2 Gomti Nagar had great results this year. The highest score of this batch is 97.8 %.

The Topper of the year Yash Pant, 17. Son of Mr. Bhuwan Pant (Teacher) and Mrs. Meena Pant (Homemaker). She said he did a great job by scoring such good marks, his parents are really happy with the results. He Scored 98 in Hindi, 100 in Computer Science 100 in Science, 99 in math and 98 in social studies. He also shared his strategies and said that he was regular in class and consistent to his studies, and he revised everything taught in class every day at home. He wants to be an engineer. He also shared he use to play video games when he was stressed during exams and studies. He said “I worked very hard to get these scores and I am happy that I met my expectations.”

Another student From Study hall Astha Katiyar, 15, scored 96.6%. she scored 95 in English, 98 in Hindi, 98 in Social studies, 95 in Math, and 97 in science. She said “I prepared before my pre-board exams and revised every day after pre-boards”. She also added, her father supported her a lot and gave her freedom to choose her field of studies.

Overall it was the happy and successful result for school and students, as well as their Family.
