Study Hall Grandparent’s Association is an initiative started by the students of the school. This initiative not only aims at celebrating the joy of connecting with the grandparents and elders but it also aims at creating a platform where people can connect and learn from each other. We realized that Lucknow, especially, has a large population of retired people (age 60+). At this age they are a great source of knowledge and experience. If we were to put this to use in schools it would be wonderful. Also, when the children will get to interact with the elder population, it will be a great way to inculcate a feeling of respect and love in students towards their grandparents and elders.
Study Hall strongly believes in inclusiveness and the importance of taking different streams of society together. Our grandparents comprise a vital aspect of our society, which is usually neglected. Our vision is to integrate them in the process of learning of the school so that we may be able to utilize their knowledge, experience and skills for the enrichment of the students. The objective is to make them feel welcomed and valued while also increasing sensitivity among the children and facilitating more interaction between the two different generations. It is a two-way exchange of resources and guidance between the students and the elders and grandparents.
The larger vision is to get more members in the association with the help of the grandparents. And then to help other schools to start a similar association.
