MUN stands for Model United Nations. It is indeed an obscure word and is a simulation of the United Nations. It is essentially a young forum for young people to debate upon the buzzing international issues and talk about the geo-political scenario of the world and finding pragmatic solutions to the problems. Each participant represents a particular country and acts as a delegate of that nation.
We had decided to go for IIMUN which was held at Amity university, Lucknow from 24th to 26th July, 2015. The three days can only be described as exhilarating and unforgettable. I was fortunate enough to be appointed as the Under Secretary General of the entire conference and my work was to see that each committee functioned properly and the conference shall be remembered as a flawless one. Vikhyat Tandon from our school was appointed as the – Head of the organising committee. We went with a team of 8 delegates. We were exposed to a variety of new thoughts, new people and to expound on the learning that happened would take pages altogether. It has not just enhanced our linguistic ability but has also sensitized us towards the critical problems the people of the world face today. It is imperative that today’s youth lead from the forefront and work towards the betterment of the upcoming generation.
Certain delegates from our school made us really proud by winning various prizes. Yashasvi Krishna and Arushi Dixit won the Best Delegate in the UNSC, Siddhant Mishra won a Special Mention in SOCHUM and Dhruv Bhalla won a Verbal Mention in the Vidhan Sabha. All of us felt highly motivated to work for the attainment of peace and harmony in the world through deliberations and talks. I strongly recommend all the students to participate in such events and gain positively from them.
