Prerna Girls bagged the first prizes in the group dance and drama competitions held at the La Martiniere Girls College on October 16, 2016. The girls also won the third prize in collage making. A total of 100 girls from Prerna Girls School participated in the competition which had nine schools vying for top honours.
77 girls from Prerna Girls School were chosen as the 1090 Women Power Line – Power Angles (Special Police Officers). The programme started welcoming of the chief minister and IG Navneet Sikera briefed the gathering about the progress of women power line and then CM Akhilesh Yadav handed over the identity cards to 25 handpicked power angles. Prerna Girls School’s Preeti was one of them.
CM urged the Power Angles to strongly represent women and also congratulated Sikera for all his good work. He thanked the power angles and added that the government would seek their help in future as well.
When asked about her experience one of Prerna Girls School alumni Moni Kannaujia who has been chosen as a power angel said, “I have tried to help women before also but this makes us extra powerful. I will take every opportunity to help women from now onwards and become a power angel in the true sense.”
Principal of the Prerna Girls School Rakhi Panjwani said, “I am very proud of my girls. They have been involved in women empowerment excises before also but this gives them extra power.”
Another Prerna girl Preeti Verma who received her power angel identity card said, “I feel now I have a special power to help other women. Change has to start from home and reflect in the society later.”
Sunita who is also a Prerna Girls School alumni said, “Whenever I tried to help women in desperate need – one question that always haunted me was who are you to this woman? But now I can say that I am a power angel which gives me the right to help women in need.”
Vidyasthali Kanar High School organised the annual Kho-Kho Competition 2016-17 on October 14, 2016, under the aegis on Madhyamik Siksha Parishad Uttar Pradesh.
Teams from Hardoi, Lakhimpur, Rai Bareli and Lucknow participated in the event. The team from Rai Bareli bagged the winner’s medal after beating Lucknow in the final team. Four students from Vidyasthali – Vijay Yadav, Jajal Yadav and Aditiya Tripathi and Prabhat Tripathi were selected for the Lucknow team. Sports secretary Ved Prakash distributed the prize to players.
The convocation ceremony of Study Hall Center for Learning was organised on 8th October 2016. All students of classes of 10th and 12th of 2015-2016 batch were felicitated on the occasion. The topper of the class 12th, Aishwarya Laxmi Pandey and Harleen Kaur of class 10th were felicitated along with the subject toppers of both the classes. All the other students who had appeared from this center were also felicitated on this occasion.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Urvashi Sahni, President and CEO of the Study Hall Educational Foundation. She delivered a powerful opening speech and welcomed the students and their families alike. This was followed by some inspirational words from our Principal, Dr. Pratima Srivastava. The complete picture of vision and working of Study Hall Center for Learning was presented and parents were also enlightened with the success stories of the students of the center. The ceremony also exhibited two performances. The first one being an Indian classical vocal performance, followed by a contemporary western dance. The recent alumni of the center shared their success stories, also the proud parents thanked the Center for Learning for its immense support and motivation.
Not just this, but Study Hall also got officially affiliated with the NIOS Board and got upgraded to an accredited centre to hold NIOS exams.
Prerna Girls School interactive session with the TCS representatives on October 7, 2016. The TCS representatives interacted with the girls and encourages them to showcase their talents. The girls were also given prizes and goodies.
Study Hall School students shone the brightest in the recently concluded CBSE Inter School Sports Competition held in Ranchi. Five members of the swimming team from Study Hall School bagged a total of 18 medals. Akiksha Singh was the standout swimmer in the tournament as she managed 5 gold medals in 200 mts, 400 mts, 100 mts and 50 mts freestyle category. She also won gold in the 200 mts individual medley. Mihir Singh won gold in 100 mts and 200 mts freestyle, silver in 50 mts and 400 mts freestyle and bronze in 200 mts breast stroke categories. Sachin Yadav won gold in 100 mts and 50 mts breaststroke while he stood second in the 50 mts backstroke and 200 mts breaststroke categories. Priyansh Agarwal won gold in 200 mts freestyle, came second in 50 mts freestyle and third in 100 mts freestyle. Kapil Yadav bagged silver in 200 mts freestyle. They have been selected for national swimming competition to be held in November.
Prerna Girls School collaborated with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to organise a health camp for its students. The topic of discussion was ‘Balanced Diet’ and the participants were first asked about their food habits. This was followed by a talk on how iron-rich diet is of paramount importance for children especially girls. The dietitians present during the camp also made a presentation on ‘nutrition needs for growing body’ to sensitise students about healthy eating habits.
Study Hall, the school know for the special bond of teachers with the students celebrated this year’s Teacher’s Day(5th September 2016) with high spirits and zeal at the Study Hall School, Gomti Nagar.
The teachers, after the event, were escorted to the staff room which was converted into a restaurant by the students and were served delicious refreshments made by Didi’s. All the teachers were later given cards and flowers and were pampered by their students. The students right from standard 6 had prepared all the performances on their own and had left no stone unturned to make this day a memorable one for their beloved teachers. The teachers were touched receiving so much admiration and affection from their students.Happy Teacher’s Day to all teachers!Students from Study Hall School and Prerna Girls School – Sandhya Yadav and Aditi Suryavanshi were awarded certificates of merit for playing and representing Lucknow Team in the 17th Uttar Pradesh State Youth Basketball Championship ( Boys & Girls ) organised by Distt. Basketball Association from 28th July 2016 – 1st August 2016.
There is never a dull moment at the Non Formal Education Centres – Gyan Setu’s every month. Last month, children came back after a brief summer vacation and welcomed the rains by making umbrellas out of paper plates and Aaloo Raja. They planted saplings around their centres .They enjoyed clay modelling and children at two centres made lovely clay houses. While learning measurement and time, they made weighing scales and clocks .The Mona Foundation team visited the Anil Brickfield and the Gomti Nagar Railway Station centres and interacted with the children and the community. They were happy to see the children so animated and engrossed in their work.
