HT highlights the good work being done at DOSTI
Art with heart wins praise
The five-day Study Hall art exhibition – Art with Heart – was inaugurated by eminent artist Pooja Sood at the Lalit Kala Academy here on Monday. Art with Heart showcased a rich collection of painting, lino-prints, photographs, installation art and sculptures made by the Study Hall School students.
Speaking on the occasion, Sood who is also the director of Khoj International Artists’
Association said that the quality of art on display is of very high and urged the students to continue to work hard and pursue their passion in art. Heart and hard work are the two things that make an artist successful.
Adding to Sood’s comments Dr Urvashi Sahni also urged the students to produce such high quality art work and said art is an expression of self.
Besides the paintings, papier Mache sculptures, wood sculptures, tribal art and lino prints also drew the attention of the visitors.
The Exhibition at the Lalit Kala Academy will be open to general public from 11am to 7pm till March 3, 2017.
Excellent performances make DOSTI concert a special one
DOSTI (a department of the Study Hall School for Special Children) organized its annual concert – Jhilmil – on at the Study Hall School on Friday. Anoop Kr. Yadav (I.A.S) Director, Viklaang Kalyan Vibhaag, UP was the chief guest on the occasion.
After looking at the performances Mr Yadav said that he was very impressed by theefforts of the special children and encouraged them to put more such shows.
Dr Urvashi Sahni also added a word of encouragement saying that such performances help the children come out of their shell and develop their personality.
Surabhi Kapoor, the principal of DOSTI added that the teachers and students had worked very hard to put together this show and after watching the performances it seems their has paid off.
The English play, “Guest is God” was a light hearted comedy about the preferential treatment given to visitors in Indian homes, especially V.V.I.P’s like the son-in-law, whose unintentional bumbling and goof-ups turn out to his benefit and earn him the respect of all his ‘sasuralees.’ Bhola and the trio of thieves were a laugh riot.
A musical dance-drama, ‘Sooraj ki saatvi beti’ portrayed special children dancing, singing and making merry as fairies visiting our land on a special trip and how the one little fairy left behind makes the best of her life, overcoming hurdles and a wily King’s plots to end on a happy note
Both English & Hindi plays were interspersed with songs, dances and instrumental performances (orchestra) ensuring a fun-filled and lively variety entertainment program for the audience who joined in for the last performance “Ummedon wali aasha” waving hands and singing along to boost the spirits of the Dosti children.
Prerna Concert ends on an emotional note
The second and final day of the annual Prerna Concert – Chu Le Aasman – was headlined by chief guest Sutapa Sanyal and guest of honour Navneet Sikera.
The Art and crafts exhibitionnonce again saw overwhelming response from the crowd as almost all the paintings were bought by art enthusiasts.
Performances by students of class 6 to 12 of Prerna Girls and Boys School marked the day.
Welcoming guests to the concert the Principal of the Prerna Girls School said that Prerna is an endeavour to empower and educate the girls.
There after Dr Urvashi Sahni addressed the parents of the students and urged them to also work towards gender equality.
The highlights of the second day of the Prerna Concert included – play titled Malala by class 9 and 11, dance by class 6 students. Five other plays were also staged on the ocassion.
Aarohini, a play by the class 7 students was also a big crowd pleaser.
Addressing the gathering Ms Sanyal said that she was teary-eyed as she saw the performances.
She urged the parents not to discriminate between the boys and girls. She concluded the her speech by saying that if girls get the right opportunity they can achieve anything.
Mr Sikera said that we need to empower the girls in our houses so that in-turn our nation will become stronger.
This was followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. Urvashi Sahni. She talked about how important it was for parents to attend the function and cheer their children.
The second day of the event would also have similar programs.
Prerna students win everyone’s heart.
The annual Prerna Concert – Chu Le Aasman – got off to a colourful start with the inauguration of the Art and crafts exhibition. Paintings made students of class 6 to 12 were displayed in the exhibition.
Welcoming guests to the concert the Principal of the Prerna Girls School said that Prerna is an endeavor to empower the girls. She also shared how 18 Prerna Girls had gone on complete Visharad (graduation in music).
This was followed by a soulful rendition of the song Hamari Hain Mutthi Mein Aakash Sara
Pre-primary students performed a heart-melting dance on a medley.
Other highlights of the first day of the Prerna Concert included – play titled Macchar Ram by prep class, dance by class 2. Three other plays were also staged on the occasion.
They included Ekta mein Bal by class 3, E-jungle by Prerna Boys and the mouse wedding by class 4. Sporty recitation by class 1 students was also held.
The concluding ceremony started with the parents of Prerna Girls sharing their experience.
This was followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. Urvashi Sahni. She talked about how important it was for parents to attend the function and cheer their children.
Shilpi does Prerna proud
Prerna Girls School’s Shilpi Kanaujia bagged the second prize in the Drawing Competition organised by the Regional Transport Office, Lucknow as a part of the ‘Road Safety Week’.
The judges for the event included Prof Umesh Saxena and Dr Bhoopesh from the department of fine arts in Lucknow University.
Regional Transport Officer (Lucknow) AK Tripathi along with Assistant Director (Education) Dr Mukesh Kumar Singh and DIOS Umesh Tripathi gave away the prizes.
Reacting to Shilpi’s achievement, Principal of the Prerna Girls School Rakhee Panjwani said she is very proud of her and wants her keep practicing and improving her skills.
Meritorious students felicitated during Study Hall School’s convocation
The Convocation Ceremony of the Study Hall School started with the lamp lighting ceremony by the chief guest Prof Nishi Pandey here on Thursday. This was followed by a soulful rendition of violin by Prapti Jain a student of the school.
Principal of the school Ms Shalini Sinha addressed the gathering and welcomed the graduating students and the guests.
She also shared the results of the previous academic session. Ms. Sinha spoke of how Study Hall a student had gone on to top the all India NIFT exam, two students had cleared the PMT exam and many had secured admissions top colleges in India.
She then called on Prof. Nishi Pandey to the stage.
Prof. Pandey spoke highly of the Study Hall School and then she recalled how what she had learnt in school has always stayed with her. She told the gathering that school just gives us information and it is the students who have to convert it into knowledge and then it’s leads to wisdom.
She congratulated the graduating students and urged them to be compassionate.
Various cultural performances also added colour to the ceremony.
Study Hall Carnival a big hit
Much fanfare marked the Study Hall Carnival 2016 held here in Saturday.
Fun and games made sure the kids had a good time and kept playing till the carnival drew to a close.
Games like Long Flight, Just Ring It, Stick and blow were great Hits among those visiting the school on a sunny afternoon. Ratio making, plane flying and the Didi’s food stalls attracted the most crowd.
More than 2500 students and parents alike participated in the Carnival.
Students and parents from Study Hall School, Prerna Girls School and Prerna Boys School participated in the event.
Study Hall Junior School students put up a colourful show
On December 7th and 8th 2016, Study Hall Junior School held its Annual Concert-‘Tal Se Tal Mila’ at the Sant Gadge Auditorium in Gomtinagar.
It was a glittering extravaganza of song and dance, painted in myriad hues on the vast canvas of fusion… fusion with a difference! The children of classes I — V enthralled the parents and danced their way into every heart. Transforming them to a wonder world where East met West and so did North and South! Amazing combinations of dance and music turned the evening into a magical experience.
Dancing the Bharatnatyam to Jai Ho, Ballet to the Santoor, toe tapping Salsa to Rajesthani folk songs, the Robotics with AR Rehman and the nine `Rasas’ expressed in mime – to name just a few – expanded the musical horizons of all present. The unusual and unique combinations had the audience tapping their feet and applauding, thrilled to be a part of such magic.
